I happened upon a talk done by Sir Ken Robinson today by way of Dave Caolo of 52 Tiger, and there was a single phrase that struck me and it has to do with education today:
They’re trying to meet the future by doing what they did in the past.

From Fraser Speirs this morning I got the following quote from Steve Jobs in 1980.
Our whole company, our whole philosophical base, is founded on one principle. That principle is that there is something very special and very historically different that takes place when you have one computer and one person. Very different than if you have ten people and one computer.
That’s the whole idea behind 1:1 computing initiatives in education today.
In a funny post titled Tweets still must flow over at the Twitter Blog it has been announced that they (that is, Twitter) now has the ability to selectively censor tweets by region.
How they try to pass this off as a good thing is beyond me. Yay censorship?
From Joystiq we get Wii U getting user accounts as part of ‘Nintendo Network’.
All I can say is “it’s about time”. Hopefully they’ll tie Wii U purchases to the personal accounts and not to the hardware itself. Of course, the proof is in the implementation, but the fact that it is even announced is a step in the right direction.
It’s always an interesting thought exercise to think about what the Wii U might bring the table as far as graphical prowess but we’re really not going to know much more until we get to E3 or Nintendo releases some more official news.
However, a new report is stating that the Wii U will be about 2x as powerful as the Xbox 360.
Ignoring the hypothetical Xbox 720 that we should be hearing about soon, it will be interesting to see if that will satiate the tech masses and be enough to be another hit in the marketplace or if the Xbox 720/Playstation 4 will be another huge upgrade like the Xbox 360/Playstation 3 was.
Interesting times.
A lot could be riding on this for Nintendo as they announced poor quarterly earnings and a poor outlook as well. 2012 is important.
